I began this series of watercolors after becoming distracted and saddened by September 11th. I’m a pluralist,
many things interest me, these paintings satisfied my need to record everything, to capture time and examine a
range of ideas and images. I look for things that sparkle with significance — color marks bouncing like notes on
a music sheet, maps, topography, landscape, memory of place, folk and native arts, pattern and decoration, and contrasting combinations.
